CTN Summer Webinar Series on Real World Data

Join the Center of the Clinical Trials Network this summer for a 5-part webinar series starting June 23rd about the use of real world data in substance use disorder clinical research!

Sessions will be held from 3:30-5:00pm EDT on:

  • June 23
  • July 7
  • July 14
  • July 21
  • July 28

The seminar series is intended to be informative, educational, and inspiring.

It will cover topics ranging from an introduction to some of the most-used RWD sources, to SUD-focused clinical research and the potential for RWD-based studies to fill research gaps, to RWD study designs, including pilot or hybrid studies for conventional trials and healthcare policy research.

The series aims to facilitate establishing cross-disciplinary collaborations, identifying research opportunities, and developing innovative approaches in SUD research.

Appalachian node logoCongratulations to Larry Leeman, MD, MPH, CTN investigator in the Southwest Node and professor in The University of New Mexico Department of Family & Community Medicine, for receiving the 2021 Family Medicine Excellence in Education Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

The annual award recognizes a family physician educator who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, research or leadership in education at regional or national levels.

Dean Martha McGrew, MD, of the UNM School of Medicine says, "Dr. Leeman is a national and international leader in maternal child health, beginning with his time at UNMSOM as a Family Medicine resident and throughout his career. Dr. Leeman has mentored generations of family medicine residents in this area and he is so deserving of this recognition by his Family Medicine colleagues."

Congratulations to Dr. Kathleen Brady, who was selected as the 2020 Julius Axelrod Award for Excellence in mentorship from the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.

The Lead Team for CTN-0107: Peer Intervention to Link Overdose Survivors to Treatment (PILOT) from the Medical University of South Carolina has completed the site selection process for this upcoming study. Thank you to all the nodes and sites for your efforts in completing site selection surveys and participating in interviews. The Lead Team wishes to welcome the following sites: Bon Secours Mercy Health (Youngstown, OH; Ohio Valley Node), Prisma Health (Greenville, SC; Southern Consortium Node), and Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Everett, WA; Pacific Northwest Node).
