This one hour session, presented by Julia Gorey, JD, of the Office for Human Research Protections (DHHS), will acquaint research staff with characteristics of a prisoner and requirements in research based on current regulations and protections as well as the application process.

Learning objectives include:

  • Explain the regulatory interpretation of "prisoner" under 45 CFR 46;

  • Explain permissible categories of research at 45 CFR 46.306, and the Epidemiological Waiver;

  • Describe requirements for a prisoner representative and IRB review;

  • Describe the requirements for certification, the process of certification, and the necessary contents of a certification package.

This webinar is targeted for all research professionals
