Presented by Dennis C. Daley, PhD, LSW and Antoine B. Douaihy, MD (Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, ATS Node).

Produced by the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network's Clinical Coordinating Center, May 9, 2012.

This 90 minute webinar, produced by the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Clinical Coordinating Center for CTN members and the public, discusses how the inability to manage emotions represents a high-risk relapse factor for individuals in recovery. Recovery from addiction involves multiple domains and the importance of identifying and managing emotions is addressed in many of the psychosocial treatments for addiction.

This webinar, intended for CTN members and other researchers and clinicians in the substance abuse field, identifies some of the common emotional struggles of patients in recovery. Considerable focus is on reviewing clinical strategies to decrease and manage negative emotions, and increase positive emotions.
