The Northern New England Node joined the Clinical Trials Network in September 2002. This Node is a partnership between clinical addiction researchers at McLean Hospital at Harvard Medical School (the Regional Research and Training Center (RRTC)), other universities, and CTPs located in five New England states – Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Together, the CTPs had over 48,000 admissions in 2001 for substance use disorders. The CTPs provide services to an ethnically diverse patient population with a variety of substance use disorders in rural, suburban, and urban locales. Special populations include individuals with comorbid psychiatric and medical illnesses, HIV-infected individuals, adolescents, pregnant women, and individuals involved with the criminal justice system.
