The Great Lakes Regional Node joined the Clinical Trials Network in September 2000. The Regional Research and Training Center (RRTC) was located at Wayne State University. The Great Lakes Regional Node included seven Community Treatment Programs (CTPs) in Michigan and Minnesota: Aurora Psychiatric Hospital, Chelsea Arbor Treatment Center, Eleonore Hutzel Recovery Center, Hazelden, James Gilmore Jr. Treatment Center, Self Help Addiction Rehabilitation Inc., and University Psychiatric Centers Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Professionals. This node's involvement in the CTN ended in 2005.
